Chiropractors are specially trained Doctors who can detect help with joint disfunction, pain and imbalanced joint movement in the spine and other body articulations. That's why we call the tecniques we use adjustments, because we adjust these imbalances. We also try and look at the entire person and not just an organ or symptom. We take a whole person approach and often discuss diet, weight, smoking, medications, and also, mental/emotional stress. All these and more affect persons Muskuloskeletal health.
Chiropractic care is a vast profession that employs many varied tecniques to correct spinal and extremity disfunction (mainly in their movement capabilities). The number of tecniques available is too lengthyto name here, but the most common are Adjustment by hand, instrument, as well, many Chiropractors use Physical Therapy modalities, and Contemporary Dry Needling Therapy.
Yes. Just like dentists, and podiatrists are Doctors, Chiropractors are also Doctors that have our own specialty. We are licensed and go through very intensive training and testing.
Chiropractic was discovered by an energy healer in 1898 in Davenport Iowa. He helped a black man who had a bony misalignment in his upper back by restoring the bone to it's normal healthy position and it is said, the mans hearing was restored. Now, these days, we would never claim be able to restore someones hearing, but, Dr Stutman has had great results in helping to alleiviate back pain, neck pain and headaches in his 30 years of practicing. And still going strong!!!
As explained above, there are too many ways Chiropractors work on patients to go into, but all are geared to restore joint balance and function. One definition of life in movement, so you could say we restore the natural life movement to ones joints and we then step back and let the bodies naturalhealing intelligence do the rest.
In my 30 year career I've had great success and usefulness by helping people, many of whom came to me as a l'ast resort', get back to a more healthy life!!!
Chiropractic works to break up negative joint movement and that helps a person have an opportunity to function and live a better quality of life. So, Yeah, it works!!! And of course, a Doctor of Chiropractic knows when to refer to another Healthcare provider when needed. Our number one mission is to 'do no harm' patient safety!
See previous question. We are trained to diagnose and treat spinal and other joint conditions, and when not to treat, or when to treat something in a different way. We refer out when needed. I tell my patients, "I'll tell you if I think I can help you, and I'll tell you if I think I can't. If you need another kind of Doctor, I'll tell you that also".Patient safety comes first!
Most side effects to Chiropractic treatments are positive, better ROM (range of motion), a feeling of freedom and wellness in the joints and other positive effects. Sometimes there may be some soreness, but, often that can be part of the patients healing progession. Serious side effects to Chiropractic are rare to never.
It depends on many factors like extent of injury, age of patient, patients health and other medical conditions, and the goals the patient is seeking from care. Your Chiropractor should be able to give you an idea of how many sessiion after an evaluation.
Chiropractors accept many insurances, and often have cash plans for those without health, Auto or Work insurance. So the cost depends on these factors
We speak spanish (Se Habla espanol), open Sundays, and weekdays til 8pm, we have 3 convenient locations, and most importantly we have a caring and professional staff who 'go the extra mile' to get you better!
Google Chiropractor near me, and pay attention to the reviews the Doctor has received from others. Take the time to read the actual written responses of the patients who have shared their experiences.
As I mentioned, there are just too many to notate, but most common are the adjustments that treat the lack of joint movement in which the Doctor uses his hands to restore function.
We treat abberant joint movement, joint pain, muscle spasm and imbalance, scar tissue and other conditions.
We employ both Chiropractic, by hand adjustments, light force instumentation, sometimes Dry Needling, and Physical therapy treatments all to help people heal in the best possible way and get them back to their lives pain free!
We treat the spine, but also, shoulders, knees, ankles, and any other area that has bones that need help restoring their movement and function.
Yes, Chiropractic can really be helpful with the low back pain and sciatica often associated with pregnancy. Relief is around the corner in most cases.
Chiropractors help low back pain by restoring the joint movement of the low back and often may help the nerve pressure and symptoms associated with low back pain
Cervical (Neck) adjustment delivered with care help to mobilize restricted joint, stretch shortened muscles, break up muscle spasms, and may reduce pressure on nerves. It can be a true liberating experience!
Sciatica is a condition of this very thick nerve called the Sciatic Nerve. This nerve runs through the piriformis muscle. Sometimes this muscle gets too tight and squeezes the nerve. This nerve pressure causes pain that may run from the buttocks to the back ot the leg. All that being said, we need to work on that muscle to reduce the pressure on the sciatic nerve, this can then reduce the pain associated with Sciatica.
We generally treat muskuloskeletal pain; pain affecting the muscles and other tissues, nerves and joints. We treat shoulder, knee, wrist, elbow and ankle pain as well.
Usually Chiropractic adjustment cause a feeling of relief. For many the Chiropractic adjustment feels like taking a thorn our of ones thumb, its a great relief. There are occasions when there is slight pain associated with the adjustment, but this is rare and usually goes away quickly.
Chiropractic adjustments are extremely safe. On an extremely rare occasion (as in all health care professions) there may be some sort of injury. Overall, you are MUCH safer with Chiropractic than you are with 'invasive' medicine. Life always has risks, that's the nature of the beast, but you can feel confident being in the hands of licensed Chiropractor!
To make a long story short, Joints have capsules and when a Chiropractor moves a joint a gas may be released and that's the theory of where the 'cracking' noise comes from. It sounds like popcorn and usually feels GREAT!
Absolutely not! As I have mentioned earlier, we have lots of treatments at our disposal and we design a treatment reginime that is safe for the individual person we are working on. For example, an elderly person may be treatment with a light force instrument, whereas a 20 year old may be treated with a more rapid adjustment using the Chiropractors hands.
It is possible to get complete relief with ongoing Chiropractic care, although one treatment only will probably not do the trick. Spinal adjustments effectiveness build on the repetition of treatments, usually. There are many health factors that may make healing take longer than usual, like diabetes, joint diseases and obesity, for example
I'd recommend not trying. Would you do foot surgery on yourself instead of going to the Podiatrist. Chiropractors are trained professionals and experts in adjusting their patients. Unfortunately, many of my clients are the patients that adjust their own necks, for example, and stretch their own ligments out. Then theirs neck bones don't hold in a healthy position, causing them even more neck pain. So, I wouldn't!
Some Chiropractors gown patients, others don't. As healthcare practitioners we need to inspect the areas of complaint, while at the same time being sensitive to the patients right to privacy. At Stutman Chiropractic we rarely gown clients, and if we do, there is a 'medically necessary' reason of doing so.
Yes, of course, as mentioned above, there are many methods and with children, a more gentle method needs to be utilized.
A Chiropractor needs to have a Bachelors of Science degree, and after that 4 years of extensive training, testing, take multiple National Board exams and then a State Board exam in some state. It's extensive!
All our offices have spanish speaking support staff. As well, Dr Stutman has a degree in Spanish Language and is Spanish fluent. He has been working to help the hispanic community for the last 30 years. DR STUTMAN SE HABLA ESPANOL.

Yes we do. The consultation is a short 5-10 minute verbal discussion with the potential client to get an idea of what the issue is and whether or not we can help. If we can't help, we may be able to recommend another kind of Doctor that may be able to assist.
